Why are there witches in heaven?

That's what our funny Miss G asked when we said the scripture tonight in Family Night: Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

I have a blog!

I forgot about it a little bit this week, but decided I had to post again when I saw this cute FREE digital kit from Shabby Princess:
Even if you don't do the digital scrapbooking thing, this is cute clip art to have on hand for whatever.
Other things I've considered blogging about:

I saw these ribbon ornaments in the Pottery Barn catalog and I want to try and make some, they are so cute! The holiday catalogs are coming and they are so fun to look at- I'm totally coveting this advent calendar from Ballard- if you see anything similar for much less, let me know! (this one is $100- way out of my budget, especially for a decoration!) Don't you love that polka dot wall behind it too?

Ok and finally, this brilliant idea also from Ballard, turn any chandellier into a crystal chandellier temporarily with these magnetic crystal drops! Choose your color and add some sparkle- how fun.

I just got a call from the party mom at school informing me that the class Halloween party is today, and she never called anyone to help or bring things so I have to get busy! Pictures soon to follow of the neighborhood carnival tonight, we are excited!

*sigh* Yes he is.

Glitz for Halloween

Miss G couldn't decide if she was going to be a princess or a witch for Halloween, so when I saw a pretty witch dress, I made the executive decision that she would be a spider princess! I bought her this cheap plastic crown from the party story and with a little spray paint, red Glitz frosting, and some glitter glue on a spider, she has the perfect spider princess crown and is SO excited.
I also made these invitations and used the Glitz frosting (shiny squares) to hold down the vellum with all the info- I used the Cricut to cut out the scallop square- I love that shape!

Grosse Pointe Blank

Ok this movie is the reason I didn't go to my 10 year reunion. High School Katie would probably have been disappointed by 28 year old Katie for not going but here's my story. I was not considering going, then one day last year Sam and I busted out the year books and I was looking through mine and remembered all these people I liked! I guess I did have friends even though I didn't hang out much and I realized I would like to say hi to a lot of people. So I thought I would go, until one night this movie was on TV. (It is really quite funny if you haven't seen it, weird too, but good.) But the guy goes to his 10 year reunion and it shows all these awkward conversations and small talk and I realized YUCK! That's probably exactly what it is like! I hate that! I find old friend's blogs and it takes me a few weeks to get the nerve to post a comment, what makes me think I would be comfortable talking to them in person! So I was absolutely not going, and Sam planned a hunting trip for the weekend. And that was that! Wednesday I suddenly decided I kind of did want to go, but since Sam was going to be gone, and Shauna too, I got over it. It sounds like it was fun though, maybe I'll be up for the 20 year?

Dang Etsy!

Etsy was mentioned today and I've subsequently been sucked into a trance- look at these great things! (click pictures for links)
Tracy Chong's pop-up cards:
This adorable Halloween pin by Daena Ortego:
And am I the only mom who hates when you are trying to give quick baths before you go out and the kids soak your clothes? This is a GREAT idea.

$10 shopping trip

Thanks to a good sale at Albertsons, manufacturer coupons, and Coupon Sense for letting me know about it all, I got all this for only $10! That's 3 gallons of milk, 2 packages of Wholly Guacamole, 4 boxes of Life cereal, 1 box instant oatmeal, 3 boxes granola bars and 2 boxes of granola bites. It would have been a lot more exciting but they were out of most of the Quaker stuff but they did give me a bunch of rain checks. And actually, I made money this trip because I transfered my prescription for prenatal vitamins there and used one of the hundreds of CVS coupons for a free $25 gift card so I spent $9 on a prescription, and got $25 free for next time! If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or thinking about getting pregnant, your dr. will probably give you a prescrip for those and you can transfer it around every month and most pharmacies will take the CVS coupons- it can be a little profitable to take your vitamins!

Spilling the beans

I like to wait until I hit 3 months to tell people I'm pregnant, but it's gotten harder with each pregnancy as I start to LOOK very pregnant before then, so I shared the news with family and close friends once I had an ultrasound at 10 1/2 weeks that showed a ticking heart. (HOORAY!) I wanted to hold out on my blog a lot longer, like until I knew the sex, but today I got to meet/hang out with some fellow bloggers (Thanks Stephanie!) and I don't want people to wonder if I'm pregnant, or if I've just been drinking too much Dr. Pepper! (Which I have not been, for the first time in my life, I actually have moments when the thought of it makes me feel ill, but luckily other times I can enjoy it still.) So that explains more why my blogging has been pathetic- I'm tired a lot, and sick sometimes but hopefully I only have a few more weeks of that! And if you see me with my big belly anytime soon, you know why!
